چکیده

OBJECTIVE To determine whether the ratio of first-trimester aspartate aminotransferase (AST) to platelet index (APRI) score will be useful as a new determinant hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets (HELLP) syndrome that may develop in later stages pregnancy Study Design: Descriptive-analytical study. PLACE AND DURATION OF STUDY Perinatology Clinic Etlik Zubeyde Hanim Maternity and Women's Health Teaching Research Hospital, Ankara, Turkey. The data patients diagnosed having HELLP between 2018 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. METHODOLOGY Forty-two pregnant women with study group 74 no morbidities control included First-trimester APRI scores compared for both groups. A characteristic curve (ROC) analysis was performed levels predicting syndrome. RESULTS One hundred sixteen had significantly lower fibrinogen (PLT) than without (p<0.001). Women higher ALT, AST, creatinine, INR levels. These differences different who developed third trimester (0.64±0.10) (0.40±0.12, p<0.001). In ROC analysis, 0.55 cut-off value sensitivity 88.1 % specificity 94.6 developing pregnancy. CONCLUSION There an association prediction syndrome, possibly weeks Predicting early period can assist proper management taking necessary precautions. Key Words: prediction, APRI, pregnancy, score.

First trimester prediction of HELLP syndrome.

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate first-trimester maternal characteristics and biomarkers in pregnancies that subsequently develop HELLP (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets) syndrome. METHOD Maternal history, biochemical, and biophysical parameters were compared between women who developed HELLP, preeclampsia (PE) without HELLP and controls. After determination...

Use of AST platelet ratio index (APRI Score) as an alternative to liver biopsy for treatment

Chronic hepatitis C (CHC) is one of the most important causes of chronic liver disease in the world, potentially resulting in cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and the need for liver transplantation. Liver biopsy is currently performed before therapy indication. Although, it is the golden standard there are many reasons to avoid or delay the procedure. APRI Score is an easy, low cost and pra...

AST to Platelet Ratio Index Predicts Mortality in Hospitalized Patients With Hepatitis B-Related Decompensated Cirrhosis

Aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI) has originally been considered as a noninvasive marker for detecting hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B and C. APRI has been used for predicting liver-related mortality in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection or alcoholic liver disease. However, whether APRI could be useful for predicting mortality in chro...

AST to platelet ratio index (APRI) for the noninvasive evaluation of liver fibrosis.

Liver biopsy is the recognized gold standard for liver fibrosis staging. The aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI) has been proposed as a noninvasive and readily available tool for the assessment of liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C (CHC). This study aimed to validate, in a Mexican tertiary health care setting, the diagnostic usefulness of APRI in CHC, nonalcoholic fatty...

First trimester screening can predict adverse pregnancy outcomes.

There has been an increasing drive over the last two decades to push the detection of women at risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes into the first trimester. This has led to a plethora of techniques, risk assessments and biomarkers, both fascinating and bewildering in its breadth. Despite the vast amount of knowledge available, it is often difficult to determine what is practicable and valuable f...
